Wesley School For The Hearing Impaired

Wesley School for the Hearing Impaired is located at Surulere, Lagos state. The mission of the school is to provide Education to hearing impaired children and create awareness about special needs children. To create an enabling environment for the total development of the hearing impaired, and to empower them for the full realization of their potentials.

The idea of educating the Deaf was conceived by a group of friends in 1956 at Yaba, and later relocated to the Oba’s palace until 1962. Wesley school 1 for the hearing impaired children was founded in 1962 and named Federal School for the Deaf with 30 pupils. The school had boarding facility until 1967 when the state government took over the school. In 1980, the school was divided into two for easy administration.
